Fall Wedding Series Part 4: Chelsea and Jordan

“Good things happen over good coffee,” reads the slogan of Buona Caffe Artisan Roasted Coffee, my favorite local coffee shop and roaster. I feel as though I’m the testimony to this adage because it’s where I met Chelsea and Jordan.

Before I jump into wedding details, I’m about to shamelessly plug my favorite coffee shop because, well, it’s my favorite and I don’t feel guilty for supporting a great local business; nevertheless, it it all ties back together to Chelsea and Jordan, I promise:

Buona is conveniently housed near my university, and I began frequenting the coffee shop upon their cafe’s launch in 2013 (they functioned primarily as a roaster since 2010). This cozy shop got me through many weary days before exams ("cold-brew refill, please"), grueling study sessions ("cold-brew refill, please"), and hunger pains ("cold-brew refill, please…and maybe a muffin?"). Yes, I love this little cafe, but I also love their baristas, and Chelsea is one of my favorites!

I got to know Chelsea while frequenting Buona, and when she found out I was a wedding photographer, she mentioned she was looking for one for her upcoming wedding. Soon after, I would have regular meetings with Jordan (at Buona, of course), while Chelsea worked behind the counter. I loved getting to know these two and what they dreamed and hoped for with their wedding and marriage. They had the best details planned, from the lighting, to the flowers, to the groomsmen’ attire, and I knew their wedding would be something special.

The day began at Bella Faccia, an airy salon that set the wedding day off on a perfect note. Chelsea, her friends, and her mom enjoyed pampering (accompanied by mimosas) from the talented stylists, Meredith and Deanna, before heading off to the ceremony site.

The ceremony was held at the spectacular Most Holy Trinity in downtown Augusta, feeding the history fanatic in me. The nave houses plaster arches that draw your eyes across the towering ceilings, with intricate stained glass windows flanking the side walls allowing fresh sunlight to flood in. Yes, I was excited. Yes, I’m a nerd.

Following the ceremony, we traveled to Julian Smith Casino for the reception, and, boy, did they "do it up right" as we say here in Georgia. One thing that makes this photographer very happy is when lighting is carefully considered during the ceremony. The room was strung with cafe lights, and the wall that stood behind the stage was lined with candles.

A couple of my favorite touches were the Buona features during the reception. A coffee bar was artfully arranged, and the wedding favors were freshly roasted coffee samples. Perfect. And didn’t I tell you all of this would come back around?

Thank you, Chelsea and Jordan, for being absolutely wonderful people to work with. Your kind hearts and gracious spirits will take you far!

See you at the coffee bar,
