One healthier habit we've implemented since the beginning of the year is going outside first thing in the morning. We groggily roll ourselves out of bed before the sun, read and write for a bit (per-suggestion of Julia Cameron from The Artist's Way), plan our to-do lists, and then head out for an hour-long walk or kayak ride before the work day begins. We only live a few minutes from the river, and while I used to think kayaking was a bit of a hassle in the morning, I've realized it's actually not that complicated to strap the kayaks to the car and head out for a paddle (especially if Adam is the one doing the work). Being out in the water as the sun comes up is probably one of the greatest ways to start the day, and I always come home refreshed and motivated to tackle the day ahead.
